Ccacachi
This 1.3 hectare site, located in Juliaca, Peru, is to be a health ministry and outreach campus. This is a place where health needs can be met: dental work, physical therapy and rehabilitation, as well as education about nutrition and healthy lifestyles. The Lake Titicaca Mission already operates the Ccacachi church here, which has worked to build trust in the community. The Ccacachi project, designed primarily between myself and fellow classmate Ian Greene during the fall semester 2018, will hopefully patent a style of architecture for this booming city that the people of Juliaca can call their own.

Placemaking

-Stipa Ichu is grown along river bank to help fight against erosion and beautify the riverfront.
-Plazas based off of Incan stormwater retention systems in order to help with flooding.
-Flooding normally goes up 2.5m from the river, but occasionally will rise to 3m, covering the original site level.
-To prevent flooding inside the buildings, the building level was raised 0.5m above the original site level.
-Pervious paving used to help with stormwater runoff.
-Water retention ponds are created using the steps along the riverfront plaza not only to help against flooding, but also to act as a water feature when flooding occurs.
-Biomicrobic wastewater systems are shared between buildings.
